Wool Felt Care Guide

Wool Felt Care Guide

Our handmade wool felt products are durable and natural, but they do require a little love to keep them looking their best. Follow these simple steps to ensure your ArtisanFelt pieces last a lifetime.

General Care

  • Regular Dusting: Use a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner with a low-suction attachment to remove dust and pet hair.
  • Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause natural wool dyes to fade over time.

Cleaning Stains

  • Spot Cleaning: For liquid spills, blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub.
  • Mild Soap: If a stain persists, use a damp cloth with a tiny amount of mild, wool-safe detergent. Gently dab the area and let it air dry.
  • No Machine Wash: Never put your wool felt products in a washing machine or dryer. Heat and agitation will cause the wool to shrink and lose its shape.

Reshaping

  • Steam it: If your cat cave or basket gets squashed during shipping or use, you can use a garment steamer or the steam setting on an iron (do not touch the iron directly to the wool) to soften the fibers and reshape it by hand.
